Children from 4th, 5th and 6th class make up our two football teams. Both the boys and girls teams are competing in the Cumann na mBunscoil.
Children from 3rd – 6th took part in a school cycle, cycling to and from the Greenway. Many parents and teachers helped out.
Our school football teams competed in the Mini-Sevens Competition.
Children in all classes are taking part in 10 @ 10, an extra 10 minutes of physical activity everyday. We also took part as a whole school, taking 10 minutes together to do exercise in Ms.Farrell’s Room.
Children are taking part in the ’10 Day Walking Challenge’, walking to school everyday. We are also hoping to achieve our ‘Travel Flag’.
Every child in the school is taking part in our running initiative ‘Map Our Route’. Children will run and record the number of laps of the back courts they complete everyday. The distance covered will be added together, and we will map the distance travelled on our map which is displayed on our Active School Flag Noticeboard. We are aiming to travel from Heuston Station, Dublin to Eyre Square, Galway.
Having completed our run from Dublin to Galway in an amazing 2 weeks, children are now travelling from Baylin to Paris.
We began our ‘Ball Free Friday’, where children took part in structured games in zoned areas during lunchtime. Members of the Active Flag Committee and Playground Leaders, organised the games.
On 14th March, children walked to school dressed in green. In doing so, we raised €380 for Jessica Howard, who is travelling to India to volunteer for the summer.
On March 16th, children learned Irish dancing with dance teacher Joe Ganley.
Boys and Girls from 5th-6th class took part in 5-A-Side Soccer Blitz in St.Peter’s Pitch.
All classes got new boxes of equipment to play with during yard time. This includes hoops, beanbags, skipping ropes and soft balls.
Children completed our second running initiative in the school, Dublin to Paris. Well done to all the children and staff who persevered at the laps around the yard.
Children took part in active travel to and from school may times during May.
June saw the extremely successful Active Week take place. Please click below to see the huge amount of additional activity which took place during this week.
Children from 4th and 5th class represented the school in both the girls and boys Marita Stone Shield Finals. Congrats to the Boys Team, who were triumphant and brought home the shield.Well done to the girls, who despite a trojan effort, were defeated in the finals.
Children from Coosan N.S visited the school. Senior pupils competed in a Basketball match.
