Active School Week

SAM_2055Active School Week took place 12th – 16th June. The week was bumper packed with activities which got all the children’s hearts pumping. The week was extremely successful and provided many opportunities for all members of the school community to be involved in an increased level of physical activity. Thanks to the Active Flag Commitee, staff, parents and friends of the school who contributed to making the week a success, and most of all to the children who participated and made their best effort in all activities.

FullSizeRender[8]Marita Stone Tournament: Well done to the boys and girls representing the school in the Marita Stone Tournament, both through to the final!



Walk to the bog (SESE)Lots of physical activity taking place around the school today, from laps around the yard and PE lessons. Children will also have more physical activity included in their learning in other curricular areas. This will continue throughout the week.


Homework Tonight: Jumping Jacks


IMG_8131Park and Stride to school: Many children took part in the park and stride this morning, as well as cycling to school.



IMG_4859Senior Cycle to Moate: Children from 3rd- 6th Class cycled to Moate Station House on the Greenway. Thanks to all the parents and staff who guided the children there and back safely.

Homework Tonight: Burpees


IMG_4937Visiting Soccer Coach:  Accomplished soccer player and past pupil of the school, David Brooks, coached children from all classes today.



Junior CycleJunior Cycle: Children from Junior Infants – 2nd Class cycled around the school perimeter.




IMG_49416th Class Soccer Blitz:  Congrats to the 6th Class boys who were runners up in a local schools soccer blitz which took place in Mount Temple today.

Homework Tonight: Bear Crawl and Arm Circles


SAM_2074Sports Day:  Children took part in many activities, from water games to obstacle courses. Even though the rain threatened the day, it didn’t stop us from having fun!



Homework: Squats


FullSizeRender[7]Running Initiative:  Today marked the the end of the successful running initiatives which took place throughout the year. All children in the school displayed their increased levels of fitness since the beginning of the year, completing a running course around the school. Junior infant children completed an impressive 800m, with some children in senior classes running up to 24 laps of the course, equating to 6km.
