Senior Boys Football

Our boys team consisting of boys from 3rd, 4th and 5th classes played Ardnagrath in the Marita Stone shield final last in Rosemount. We had beaten them earlier in the year and looked forward to meeting them again. Baylin got off to a bad start conceding an early goal and point. However, we didn’t panic and big performances from Matthew Nally, Aaron Ganley, Darcy Lawless, Sean Fox and Jack Sheehan ensured that Baylin were well in contention at half time. After the break, the lead changed hands on many occasions. Within 4 minutes to go Baylin were 1 point behind but with the wind at their backs Baylin then scored 3 unanswered points to lead by 2 and praying that the referee would blow the whistle. Unfortunately, it was not to be. In the last attack of the game, Ardnagrath got the goal they needed to win by a point in a hugely entertaining and skilful game. The Baylin boys played really well and can be proud of their efforts and conduct on the field of play in all matches during the year. Senior boys team were as follows:
Matthew Nally, Aaron Ganley, Sean Fox, Jack Sheehan, Alex Clinton, Darren English, Patrick Maguire, Darcy Lawless, Cillian Lyons, Roan Byrne, Adam Donoghue, Glenn Carolan, James Carey, Shane Hynes, Luke Hamilton, Zach Nolan.

Hawaiian Ice-cream Party

There was wind and rain outside on Wednesday 25th May, but inside baylin national school was a Tropical Hawaiian paradise! The school hosted a Hawaiian themed ice-cream party, in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland. Staff and pupils dressed up in grass skirts Hawaiian shirts and sunglasses, while Mr. Canty’s room was transformed into a Hawaiian resort with palm trees, sand and water. Competitive limbo competitions took place as well as hula-dancing and face painting. When pupils were finished their ice-cream, they got to play at the make shift beach, building sandcastles and splashing in water. Baylin’s own “jedward” tribute, Lauren and Tara, performed for all the classes. Altogether €510 was raised for Down Syndrome Ireland. A big thanks to all the parents and pupils for their donations and support on the day.
