A great day was had by all, as we came together to raise our first Active School Flag. The Active School initiative encourages schools to be more aware of how much physical activity that every child in their school community is involved in. We worked towards achieving this flag over a year ago, being awarded Active School recognition in March. We participated in a number of new initiatives on top of the activities which we already did in the school, all of which can be seen under the Active School tab on our website.
We began our day with a ‘Clash of Warriors’, where children from all classes competed against each other in teams in a number of skills competitions. After the oldest and youngest members of our Active Flag Committee raised the flag, trophies and medals were presented to ‘The Dacians’, the triumphant team, and ‘The Huns’, the runners-up. We also took the opportunity to congratulate our boys football team who were runners-up in the Cumann na mBunscoil Final, presenting them with their medals. We concluded our celebration with ice-cream and some fun on the bouncing castle.
A huge thank you to all the past pupils who helped the teachers in the running of the day. Please click on the images below to enlarge the photos.
